Back Home

We are back home from a 4 day trip to Moncton to visit with my sick MIL. She has been in the hospital for over two weeks and is now being assessed to see if she will ever be able to move back into her own apartment. It sure does not look good right now. She is now walking with a walker which is better than when she went in, but I really don't see where she is ever going to be well enough to look after herself, physically and mentally. Her short term memory has deteriorated to a point where I am afraid she will not be able to keep her medication straight. It is sad to see her like that as she was always so with it before. The fact that she does not want to go anywhere but back home is not going to be easy either.

Today is sunny but much colder than it has been. We have a small brook that crosses our road in to our residence, and just a few short weeks ago, you could have crossed it with shoes on and not get wet. Well, in the last week, we have gotten so much rain that it is now almost as high as the Spring melt time.

Today was spent trying to do housework, doing the wash and doing the ironing. A woman's work is never done. DH went outside and picked up the leaves from the one last tree to let go of its leaves. Tomorrow and Friday are days going into Town for doctor's appointments - at least, this time they are all DH's appointment.

I am going to try to get back to my quilting on the weekend. That is barring any other interruptions.

Have a great day everyone!

So sorry about your MIL, and not being able to be on her own...it's very hard, isn't it?
As for the yarn I am using for my blanket...it's just the Red Heart variagated from Wal-mart. That's all I usually use.
Take care

I'm sorry to hear that your MIL will likely not be able to return home. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers...

It's very hard when our parents get to this stage in their life. If she can't go back, is assisted living a route to go ? Look forward to seeing what you are quilting this weekend.

So sorry to hear about your MIL. It's very hard and sad when elderly relatives become unable to care for themselves. My MIL had to leave her home and she just kept asking to 'go home'.

You certainly are having a lot of rain. It's interesting about creeks (or rivers) rising so quickly with a hard rain. The stream behind my place just drifts along until we get a downpour and then it thunders and roars, with water about 8 feet deep. A bit scary, but fun to watch, from inside!

Hope your weather improves soon. Take care.

Mumzy, it's hard when someone you love so much is in poor health. Stay hopeful, miracles do happen.

Shortly after we lost my Mother, Dad starting showing signs of memory loss and it's been ~ 7 years now since the dementia has set in and taken him away from us a bit at a time. Enjoy the good days and all the memories you can.
