What a Day!

Where we are going camping for the weekend, DH and I decided first thing this morning to wash the truck. While we were out there working, our neighbour came along with her dog, Molly. She is still very puppyish and she was running around our property. She suddenly appeared with, guess who? That poor little squirrel that we had seen the other day. It had apparently gone, laid down at the bottom of one our trees and died. We are not sure if he died from the beating he got the other day or if he had not been well before that. Poor little guy.

I am now trying to get some blueberry freezer jam done as well as some blackberry freezer jam. I love doing this kind of thing but today I feel rushed as we are leaving tomorrow morning for the weekend. Ah, well, you see I'm used to doing things while taking my time, especially since I retired. At least, I'll be able to enjoy my weekend.

DD has forwarded some of the pictures of the quilts that I made for her and her DH, so when I can tie my DH to the computer long enough, I will put some of these on my blog. He loves working outdoors especially on a beautiful day as today, so pray for rain so he can stay in - not really. He will do this for me, perhaps even this evening.

Must get back to my jamming. Enjoy the day!

Little Creatures

While working at my kitchen window, I happened to look out and in the grass was a tiny baby squirrel trying to get away from a much bigger and more bossy squirrel. Mister boss was really putting a beating on that poor little one. I hollored out but it did nothing to stop the chase. That poor little one kept trying to hide in the grass but to no avail. I was just about ready to go out when Mister boss decided to go away.

We are also getting a whack of female hummingbirds coming to our feeders. Both DH and I are scared to death that the males have already left for the South. If that is the case, it would mean Fall is coming earlier than usual. We are hoping that is not so. We are still planning a couple more camping trips for the next two weekends. Hopefully, the weather will stay warm so we won't have to put the furnace on in the RV. Besides, I would like to have more campfires too.

We live on a beautiful quite large lake that when windy, the waters get pretty choppy. Well, yesterday, one of my neighbours went out in her kayak with her brown lab sitting in the front. You guessed it, the dog did not stay still and both of them ended up in the water. That happened not once but three times. I was talking with her today and she tried to convince me to join her kayaking but I'm not that fond of water. I love to look at the water but I like to stay dry too.

A Most Beautiful Day

We are having a most beautiful day weatherwise. The sun is shining and so far, the temperatures are just right.

Last Fall, we were in Alberta and I came across a two-storey quilting shop in Camden that had materials everywhere you looked. Oh, heavens here I come. Not that I needed anymore materials but what the heck, I just had to go in. Among the things I found was a ragtime quilt that had a full size snowman on the front of the quilt and the back of the quilt was his back. I just loved it but I had also promised myself that I was not going to make another ragtime quilt - 8 done so far. So I left the pattern there. After I got home in New Brunswick, I was sorry I had not picked it up and growled about it. At Christmas, my DD gave me the pattern as a gift. So I began frantically searching for proper materials. I now have all the materials and have even begun to cut it out. With the Summer weather plus the fact that we are in the renovation mode in our house, I have had to put it down for a while. Can hardly wait to get back at it.

Yesterday, we were pleased to have a nice visit from our DD, DSIL and our granddog, Brie. Brie is such a sweet little dog. For those of you who don't know, Brie had to be operated on her back, but she is now walking again - even if she is a bit like a drunken sailor. We have seen a big improvement in her walking in the last couple of weeks.

Have a Great Day!

New Blogger

My DD has just set me up on a blog. I would enjoy blogging with anyone who has the same interests as I, mainly, quilting, Swedish weaving, etc.

I live on a lake with a gorgeous view. Being retired allows me to enjoy all the birds and creatures we have around here. Yes, I still go camping even living where I do. A change of scenery is always good for the soul regardless of where you live.

This being my first, it is going to be short and sweet. My thanks to DD for all her help in setting me up.
