Oh What A Mess!!!!

Last Monday, DH went into our RV and told me that he could smell something like sour milk in it. So I went to see and cleaned the zinc area thinking it might be coming from the drain. The next day, the smell was still there and was a bit stronger. On Wednesday, I decided to try to find out where this smell was coming from. I search and finally told DH, it is stronger in the bedroom and especially around the ceiling fan area. At first, he thought I was out to lunch but decided to take the frame out from around the fan - just to satisfy me. LOL Well, guess what, it was filled with urine and fecal and we started to hear some noises from the ceiling. We now know we have a mother squirrel and we think she has had her little ones up there too. We have tried to entice her with food to come down but no go.

The smell is so bad that we cannot stay in the RV for any great amount of time. We have called our local RV dealer and have made an appointment for them to clean it out. The earliest they can work on it is June 22nd and it is a long and very expensive job. On top of that, the only way they can do this is to remove the ceiling. The insurance company does not cover any rodent damage. So DH and I removed all the clothing, bedding, and foods. We also removed all furniture with the exception of the chesterfield. We even removed all the drawers and the mattress. I have washed all that could be washed and am storing it everything in the house until our problem is resolved.

If anyone has a suggestion on how to get that !^%&*(( squirrel family out of there, please let us know. The longer she is up there, the worst the mess to be cleaned up.

That is my tale of woo for today.

On a better subject, we are seeing a lot of mother ducks and their ducklings going by on the lake. The ducklings are getting a bit bigger and are so cute. I do love living on the lake.

Have a great day!

Another Trip - NOT SO!

On Friday morning, we packed up the car and started out for our trip to Nova Scotia. Well, a couple of days before that, DH developed a pain on the side of his head near the temple area. Friday morning, the pain was worst and since we live close to a small hospital that houses our family doctor's office, he decided to drop in to have it checked out. Luckily, the doctor was in and saw DH right away. From there, we were sent to our city hospital to do a CAT SCAN. Everything came back normal, but our doctor diagnosed DH as having shingles. So, because he has no rash showing, we had to stay home so he could go in to our local hospital to see if the rash shows up. If and when it does show up, the doctor has to prescribe medication right away - that is the only way, it will do any good. So, we were not able to go visit our daughter and her hubby - much to our disappointment.

Our weather has been the pits in the last few days. Yesterday was a continual downpour and guess what, it is raining again today. Arghhhh!

Yesterday, in that rain, I looked out on the lake and saw a mother duck with 6 ducklings going by. It was like a little train going by - so very cute.

Since it is raining today, I may just get back to my quilting. Last week, I decided to work on my collection of pins (lapel pins). I made up three ring binders, with velvet pages to which I place my pins on. I hadn't worked on these for quite a while, so it took me one and one-half days to get it all caught up. I am really happy with the results.

Well, must run. Have a great day everyone!

Another Trip

Well we made it to Indiana and back. It was a great trip and we had a lot of fun. The scenery was wonderful and a lot of the trees were in full bloom. We did have an episode that was not fun and that was, one night we had two tornado warnings. This was a first for us and it was a bit scary. In our part of the Country, it is very rare to have a tornado. We have had hurricanes and a few bad storms with high winds.

This weekend, we are packing up again and this time, we are going to Nova Scotia to visit our daughter and her husband. We have not seen them since last Fall and we are really looking forward to this trip.

Since we came home from Indiana, as most of you know, I live on a lake and we are having a lot of dead gaspereau fish on our shore. I got in touch with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and was told that they come into the lake to spawn. This year because we have lower than usual water in the lakes and warmer than usual as well, it stresses the fish so much that it kills them. So that is why we have all the dead fish on our shores.

Must run and get ready for our next trip. Have a great weekend everyone!
