Happy Halloween!

I can't believe that it is the 31st of October. Today, we are having our first snow flurries so it does make us realize that it is Halloween. We have been fortunate as far as weather is concerned as it has been about 10 degrees above normal last week. However as of yesterday, we are back to colder and much more windy conditions.

Because of the windy conditions yesterday, most of the leaves have fallen and this morning, DH and I raked those darn leaves. We got about half of the lawn done so will have to get the rest of it done another day. Since age is catching up to us, we have to know our limits and quit before over doing it. Also, DH was in the hospital again for 5 days. Again, his heart was checked and the doctors say his chest pain is not due to heart - a good thing. However, they did the scope test to his stomach and again, all was normal. They did release him from the hospital without finding out what the problem is but he is still scheduled for more outpatient tests.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Halloween. Because of where we live, two miles from a main road, we do not get any trick or treaters. So, it will be a normal quiet night for us. Until next time, have a great week.

Colourful Trees

Even with the showers today, the colorful leaves are still quite impressive. Quite a bit of the leaves have already fallen but this year, the trees were full and so, they are still loaded. That means, a lot of raking in the not too distant future.
Today, we are having some very calm weather one minute, and the next minute, we get a downpour shower. So, today will be a day inside catching up on blogging, quilting, etc.
Yesterday was a day from Hell. I received a call from my cousin, telling me my 99 year old aunt fell and is now in the hospital with a broken hip that required an operation. She did make it through the operation and is now awaiting an opening in a nursing home. Then she tells me that her brother's wife and her own mother-in-law both died this summer. I hang up from her phone call, the phone rings again, and it is one of my neighbours calling to say his wife passed away the night before. I was scared to pick up the phone after that. Hopefully, today will be a better day.
I have been doing very little on my quilt as my daughter and her hubby came for a wonderful visit. On top of that, we were able to celebrate my hubby's birthday. So it has been a very busy time lately. My hubby is setting up my sewing room with a TV on the wall. I use it a lot even if I just use it for noise while quilting.
Have a great weekend, everyone, and do try to keep dry.

Autumn Colours

We are already in October and the leaves have turned to a beautiful array of fall colours. We went to Moncton last weekend and it was a very colourful trip. The red leaves, this year, are very vivid and they seem to peek through all the other gold, orange, and green leaves, making it just a beautiful arrangement.

On Sunday, we celebrates DH's cousin's 80th birthday, then on Monday, we celebrated DH's mother's 89th birthday. Both were very nice parties but it is hard to watch your weight at functions like that.

We had a little scare last week. DH felt a pressure in his chest and his having had heart problems, the doctors did not take any chances. He was admitted to the hospital and put through stress tests and blood tests. He was given a clean bill of health, and much to his pleasure, he was released from the hospital.

Between our trips out of town and DH's visit to the hospital, plus winterizing our RV and getting our outside property ready for winter, I have not had time to blog or to do any quilting. I am hoping to be able to get to my quilting this afternoon.

We are getting ready for a visit from DD and her DH. They are going to be here on my DH's birthday which is going to be really nice. We have not seen them for a long time, but then, her DH is very busy at work and we do understand their situation. We do keep in touch by phone and e-mails, probably more so than when they lived close by. Looking forward to seeing them again.

Have a wonderful weekend and a great week everyone!
